Wonders LIVE

Some dive sites are pins.
Some are Wonders.

The wall of grey reef sharks at Fakarava South Pass. The Great Blue Hole. Living microbialites in a Canadian lake. A flooded Titan I missile silo. Some places in the underwater world are genuinely remarkable — and a dive log ought to know which ones.

Wonders is DeepSix Dive Log's curated, diver-sourced catalog of those places. They live on your map, they announce themselves on your dives, and when you surface from one, the log says what your buddy already knows: that dive was different.

The Catalog

Curated, not scraped. Every entry earns its place.

A Wonder isn't "a nice dive site" — the world has fifty thousand of those. Each entry passes a notability gate before it ships: a geological formation, a reliable life event, a piece of flooded history that a diver would cross an ocean for. Eight categories cover the range, from geological to cultural/archaeological. The catalog started with a hand-picked seed and grows deliberately, one reviewed nomination at a time.

Fakarava South Pass Life event — the wall of grey reef sharks, French Polynesia
Great Blue Hole Geological — the great marine sinkhole, Belize
Pavilion Lake microbialites Geological — living fossil reef structures, British Columbia
Tiputa Pass Life event — dolphins and sharks in the current, Rangiroa
Cenote Dos Ojos Geological — the twin-eye cavern system, Yucatán
Blue Corner Life event — the current-swept shark corner, Palau
Titan I Missile Silo Cultural / archaeological — a flooded Cold War launch complex, Washington

The catalog is bundled with the app and works offline; updates download from wonderdb.deepsixdive.com — the same offline-first delivery that powers the wreck database. Your device prefers the freshest catalog it has.

On the Map

A violet layer over the whole planet.

Toggle the Wonders layer and every catalog entry appears in violet — one color for the layer, a distinct glyph per type, so a geological Wonder reads differently from a life-event Wonder at a glance. Tap a pin to see its name, then ⓘ to open the Wonder card: what makes the place remarkable, its category, and a conditions rollup with provenance — so you know not just what to expect, but where that expectation comes from.

It works on iOS and macOS, online and off. Planning a trip around a Wonder is the intended use.

The Moment

The log tells you: "You dived a Wonder."

When a dive's site or GPS lands on a catalog entry, DeepSix marks the dive itself. A violet "At a Wonder" badge appears in the dive list. The dive detail and the site page carry a banner that opens the full Wonder card. Log a dive at Blue Corner and the app knows what Blue Corner is.

The match is derived, not manual — and it's recomputed as the catalog grows, so a dive you logged last year lights up when its site becomes a Wonder next month. Your history gets more remarkable retroactively.

Near is derived; witnessed is yours. Open the Wonder from the dive and mark it "Witnessed on this dive" — the Stats card counts dives near Wonders and Wonders witnessed as two honest numbers, and never infers the second from the first.

Wonders, everywhere they matter

Smart Lists — filter your log to "At a Wonder Site" and combine it with any other criteria.

Stats — a Wonders-dived card on the dashboard counts your collection.

Achievements — a dedicated Wonders category: tiered badges for Wonders dived, an all-categories badge for divers who've collected every type, and contributor badges for the divers who build the catalog.

Contribute

You know a place that belongs here. Nominate it.

The catalog is diver-sourced by design. Nominate a Wonder straight from the app — a nomination is usually born from a dive, so there's nothing to search for. Submissions go to wonders.deepsixdive.com with an explicit preview and consent step, and every one is reviewed by a human against the notability gate before it ships. Nothing auto-publishes.

A nomination can carry a photo, on the same contract as wreck contributions: one image, open licenses spelled out in plain language, a rights affirmation, and EXIF stripped by on-device re-encoding — your photo travels without your metadata. Your own shots from the dive come first in the picker.

Accepted Wonders credit their contributor as "a DeepSix diver" — or your handle, if you opt in. Consent is per-field and opt-in; the full contribution data flow is disclosed in our privacy policy.

Not every nomination makes the catalog — that's what curation means. A Wonder has to be genuinely remarkable, and a person decides.

The Sibling Layer

Prefer your history with a hull number?

Wonders shares its plumbing with DeepSix's flagship layer: the wreck database — 29,031 curated diveable wrecks merged from national heritage registers on four continents, with period-correct ensigns, honest position uncertainty, and war graves shown with respect.
