A logbook for divers.
Here is everything in it.
DeepSix Dive Log is a dive logbook for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch Ultra. It records your dives and shows them back to you: maps, dive profiles, photos, the marine life you saw, wreck histories and remarkable underwater places. This page describes what the app contains and what divers can share, so parents and anyone deciding whether it suits them can judge for themselves. The age rating Apple assigns is shown on the App Store listing.
What the app does not contain
| Advertising | None. DeepSix shows no ads and uses no ad networks. |
| Chat or messaging | None. Divers cannot message each other, and there are no profiles, followers or social feeds. |
| Web browser | None built in. Links to outside sites (credits, sources, help) open in your own browser. |
| Gambling, contests, loot boxes | None. |
| Violence, sexual content, profanity | None. Wreck histories describe how ships were lost, including wartime losses, in a factual, historical way. |
| Alcohol, tobacco, drugs | None. |
| Medical advice | None. DeepSix is a logbook, not a dive planner or dive computer. |
What divers can share, and how it is reviewed
Your dive log is private: it stays on your devices and in your own iCloud, and no one else sees it. Sharing is always a deliberate act, and nothing is sent until you review exactly what will go and tap Send. Divers can choose to send:
- Wreck and Wonder contributions: corrections, new sites, notes and photos for the shared wreck database and the Wonders catalog.
- Species photos: a photo that helps the on-device species identifier learn an animal it got wrong or doesn’t know.
- Problem reports: diagnostic reports sent to our support team, never shown to other divers.
A person reviews every submission before anything is published. Accepted wreck and Wonder facts and photos can then appear to all divers on wreck dossiers and Wonder cards, with the contributor’s chosen credit. Species photos are used to improve identification. Photos are re-encoded before upload, so their location and camera metadata are removed.
To report a photo or anything else that shouldn’t be there, email [email protected] with the wreck or Wonder name. We review every report and remove content that breaks our standards or that the photographer asks us to take down.
Other things worth knowing
- War graves. Some wrecks are the resting places of people who died at sea. DeepSix marks them and presents them with respect, as history.
- Optional AI features. Species identification and dive narratives from Anthropic or OpenAI are off unless a diver adds their own API key. The free species identifier runs entirely on the device.
- Purchases. DeepSix is free in full. Optional Patron purchases support development and go through Apple, so Screen Time and Ask to Buy apply.
- Diving itself. Scuba diving needs training and certification. DeepSix records dives; it does not plan them or tell anyone how to dive.
- Children. DeepSix is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. See the privacy policy.
