Dive Map LIVE

One map.
Every layer
of your diving life.

DeepSix Dive Log puts everything on a single interactive map: the sites you've dived, the sites you plan to dive, and what's around them — 29,031 wrecks, the underwater world's Wonders, marine sanctuary boundaries, living reef habitat, and the GPS tracks your own devices recorded.

Other features get their own pages. This is where they all show up at once.

Your Sites

A reef pin looks like a reef. An ice pin looks like ice.

Every dive site draws an environment-colored pin — reef, wreck, cave, wall, ice, river, and more — so a zoomed-out coastline reads as a profile of your diving, not a field of identical dots. Zoom in to dive-area scale and pins reveal the site's hero photo. Tap one and the full site card opens: dives, conditions, species, everything.

Dense areas cluster until you zoom; a trip filter narrows the map to one trip's sites; and planned sites — places you intend to dive but haven't yet — stay visible right beside the places you have. The map is a logbook and a wishlist on the same canvas.

Map snapshots cache offline, so dive and site cards keep their maps on a liveaboard with zero bars of signal. The bundled wreck tier and the sanctuary boundaries don't need a connection either.

The Layers

What's around your sites matters as much as the sites.

Toggle each layer from the map's overlay menu, with a legend that explains every color and every dashed ring. Together they answer the question a paper logbook never could: what else is down there, near the places you dive?

Dive sites Environment-colored pins — reef, wreck, cave, wall, ice, river…
Planned sites Places you intend to dive, visible beside places you have
Wrecks 29,031 records — status colors + uncertainty rings
Wonders Curated remarkable places of the underwater world
Sanctuaries & MPAs More than 29,000 marine protected and managed areas worldwide, at every protection level
Live habitat NOAA Flower Garden Banks coral caps, fetched per-viewport
Reef zones Allen Coral Atlas shallow-reef classification
GPS tracks Teal phone & watch breadcrumb polylines, all your devices

The wreck layer carries all 29,031 records with status colors — bright gold for enhanced wrecks, green for artificial reefs, bright blue for war graves and heritage wrecks — and dashed uncertainty rings sized to how approximate each position really is. The Wonders layer marks the genuinely remarkable places, from the Great Blue Hole to Fakarava South Pass.

And the teal GPS track layer draws the breadcrumb trails your phone and watch recorded on dive days — this device's tracks bright, other devices' tracks dimmer, appearing as you zoom to dive-site scale. Your actual path through a dive day, on the same map as everything else.

Protected Waters

Know when you're diving inside a sanctuary.

The reef overlay goes beyond shallow reef zones. More than 29,000 marine protected and managed areas worldwide, at every level of protection, draw as dashed outlines at any zoom, from ProtectedSeas Navigator alongside all 18 US National Marine Sanctuaries and 61 Australian Marine Parks. Each has a name label — zoom-gated and collision-decluttered, so Flower Garden Banks' scattered banks collapse to a single clean label instead of a pile of text.

Flower Garden Banks gets special treatment: its deep coral-cap habitat sits below the depth range optical reef surveys can see, so DeepSix fetches it live from NOAA's public service, detailed to your current viewport. Alongside it, Allen Coral Atlas reef zones classify the shallow reefs. The full story of the reef data is on the reef health page.

Every boundary source was evaluated license-first — NOAA public domain, Australian Marine Parks and ProtectedSeas CC BY 4.0 — with attribution in the app's acknowledgments and on the map footer.

Search

Type "Fiji." The camera flies there.

Map search finds anything in your logbook — a dive, a site, a trip, a location — and flies the camera to it. It also takes freeform places: type a country, an island, a town, and the map goes there, whether or not you've ever logged a dive within a thousand miles. Place lookups need no location permission.

On the Mac, ⌘F is context-sensitive: on the map it focuses the map search field; anywhere else it opens the global search sheet.

One Map Everywhere

Pick a style once. Every map honors it.

Choose Standard, Hybrid, or Satellite and the choice applies to every map in the app — the main map, dive detail, site cards, trip maps, full-screen. Hybrid is the default, because divers care about what the water looks like. Pins are harmonized too: iPhone and Mac draw the same environment-tinted circles zoomed out, and both reveal hero photos at the same dive-area zoom.

And the whole thing — every pin, every layer, sanctuaries, wrecks, Wonders, GPS tracks — is on macOS as a first-class citizen, not a port. Plan on the big screen; dive with the phone.
