A native Mac dive log.
Not a port.
DeepSix Dive Log on Mac isn't an iPhone app stretched across a Retina display. It's a real Mac app — NavigationSplitView sidebar, multi-window, keyboard-driven browsing, drag-and-drop import, ⌘-comma settings — built on top of the same dive log that syncs to your phone.
The same dive history is in your pocket and on your desk. CloudKit handles it.
Sidebar + grid + detail
A three-column NavigationSplitView with library and trips on the left, a dive grid in the middle, and a dive detail pane on the right. Click a trip, see its dives. Click a dive, see the profile, photos, map, and enrichment.
Table mode
Toggle to MacDive's classic profile-above-table layout, modernized. Resizable profile pane. Configurable top panes — pick from profile chart, map, hero photo, or gas chart. Persistent sample inspector that stays visible when your cursor leaves the chart. Arrow-key browsing through dives with instant profile and map updates.
Multi-window
Detach a dive into its own window with ⌘⇧D. Compare dives side by side. Open the stats dashboard in its own window without losing your place in the grid.
Drag and drop
Drag photos onto a dive to add them. Drag a UDDF or Subsurface file onto the app to import it. Drag dives between trips to reorganize.
Columns your way
Every column on the Dives, Sites, and Locations tables sorts on a header click. Drag headers to reorder, right-click to show or hide — your arrangement persists per table. A "Sort by… / Then by…" menu gives you reliable secondary sorting.
Smart Collections sidebar
Your saved Smart Lists live in the sidebar as Smart Collections. Select one and the main table filters and sorts to its criteria — edit, create, or delete without leaving the view.
People & Operators roster
A dedicated People screen in the sidebar for browsing, adding, and editing the buddy, divemaster, and operator records themselves — not just the names attached to dives.
Wired import BETA
File → Download from Dive Computer (Wired) reads dive computers over a USB/serial cable — same parsing and deduplication as the Bluetooth path, built on libdivecomputer, so any cabled computer it supports should work. Verified on the Suunto Vyper Air and Vyper Novo so far. Beta means we want your computer next: if a connection fails outright, the app automatically offers to send a diagnostic with the connection's pertinent details, and support for a new model typically lands within days.
Width-adaptive Stats
The Stats dashboard uses the room a desktop gives it: on wide windows the cards spread into two or three columns, grouped into related bands — Activity, Gas & Deco, Places, Life & People — while a 13" laptop keeps the readable single column. Content width is capped so a 4K or 5K display centres instead of stretching.
Keyboard everything
Arrow keys browse dives. ⌘F searches. ⌘N creates a dive. ⌘, opens settings. ⌘⇧D detaches a dive into its own window. The menu bar is real and discoverable.
One dive log,
on every device.
Your Mac and your iPhone share the same CloudKit container, the same SwiftData schema, and the same dive log. Add a dive on your phone, it appears on your Mac. Edit a site name on your Mac, it syncs to your iPhone and Apple TV. Curated trip photos stream to your TV automatically.
There is no separate Mac account. There is no Mac-only export format. There is no "import from iPhone." It's one dive log, on every device.
Some things only make sense on a desktop:
- Arrow-key dive browsing — touch platforms can't replicate the rapid keyboard scrubbing
NSOpenPanelfor MacDive import — defaults to MacDive's known database location, the way a Mac app should- Multi-window comparison — open three dives side by side and actually compare them
And some things only make sense on iOS:
- Apple Watch Ultra companion integration — the Watch app writes directly to your iPhone
- Photo capture on the boat with immediate dive matching
DeepSix uses each platform for what it's good at instead of pretending they're the same.
- macOS 15 or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel Mac
- iCloud signed in (for sync)
- Photos.app library (for photo matching)
